ABOUT SNOWBIRD

Snowbird is an unincorporated community in Little Cottonwood Canyon in the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains near Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S. It is most famous for Snowbird- Cliff Lodge, an alpine skiing and snowboarding area, which opened in December 1971.

The Lodge is a multi-facility winter and summer (primarily winter) property. Primarily known for its winter powder skiing and snowboarding, during other seasons Snowbird also hosts hikers, mountain bikers, fishermen, and other mountain vacationers. The facilities include ski lifts, hotels, condominiums, spa facilities, restaurants, other related retail businesses, and medical services.

Snowbird operates almost entirely on National Forest Service land.

THINGS TO DO

Within walking distance to Snowbird’s pedestrian village, The Cliff Lodge offers comfortable lodging for the whole family or group. An on-site ski rental and repair shop and complimentary ski lockers add to the convenience of the hotel. Other amenities include an exercise room, wifi throughout all facilities, room service, and concierge.

If you enjoy mountain biking or hiking, Hidden Peak is the start of the new Big Mountain Trail, and other bike and hiking trails down the mountain.

From the top of Hidden Peak, hike a half-mile down the Peruvian Gulch trail to the Peruvian Chairlift. Near the lift, there is a tunnel that gets skiers and hikers to the other side of the mountain. You can walk all the way through and learn about the history of local mining and skiing from displays along the way and then walk back through to return to the chairlift.

After a day on the mountain, relax at the outdoor pool or The Cliff Spa. Open year-round, a heated swimming pool and three hot tubs are located outdoors on Level 3. Located on the 9th and 10th floors, The Cliff Spa features over 30 treatment and salon services, yoga studio, fitness center, rooftop pool, and hot tub. Access to The Cliff Spa is available at a 50% discount for all conference attendees.

Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest at Snowbird is a family-friendly affair with activities, food, and, of course, brews for days — weeks actually. The highly-anticipated festival begins mid-August and lasts through mid-October, taking place every Saturday and Sunday, along with Labor Day. It’s probably the greatest beer festival Utah has to offer, so don’t miss out!

Snowbird’s Oktoberfest attracts thousands of visitors each year making it one of the largest festivals in Utah. Admission to Oktoberfest is free and the event runs from Noon - 6 pm.

For a full list of summer activities, please visit the Snowbird recreation page.
