2022 NSGIC Geospatial Excellence Awards

CHAMPION | CATALYST | INNOVATOR

Nominations Close July 29

The NSGIC Geospatial Excellence Awards celebrate 30+ years of facilitating smart policy, partnership-building, innovation, and professional growth.

Just over thirty years ago, NSGIC was formed to provide a unified voice on geographic information and technology issues, advocate for states’ interests and support its membership in statewide initiatives. Through the decades, NSGIC members have led the way in the creation of intelligent maps, databases, and tools that enable public and private decision-makers to make better informed and timelier  decisions in a wide array of governmental areas. With the Geospatial Excellence Awards, we look to the NSGIC membership and beyond to recognize geospatial initiatives that embody the NSGIC spirit.

Geospatial Excellence Award presentations will be held at the NSGIC Business Meeting during the 2022 Annual Conference, September 20, in Portland, OR.

Only NSGIC State Representative members in good standing may submit a nomination for Geospatial Excellence Awards. All NSGIC members are encouraged to coordinate nominations with their official State Representative or a member of the NSGIC Board of Directors.

To be considered for a Geospatial Excellence Award, an individual or organization must meet at least 3 of the following criteria:

  • Creates a sustainable partnership or initiative that returns significant benefit from geospatial technology across multiple organizations
  • Documents measured improvement in implementing a state or national spatial data infrastructure
  • Advances the ‘create it once, use it a bunch’ credo for efficiently delivering valued geospatial data and services across a broad enterprise of users
  • Benefits the whole nation through sharing of innovation or establishment of best practices
  • Champions the involvement of all state data infrastructure or national data infrastructure stakeholders
